Imbumba Projects is a unique organization that was formed primarily to focus on being the agent of change by embarking in various projects aiming at improving lives and prepare our youth to face future challenges. It was set up by Richard Mabaso in South Africa specifically to help local communities improve the quality of their lives by empowering them through various innovative and mind-stimulating initiatives.
Richard himself was from a poor family in Mpumalanga Province and was assisted 15 years ago by a philanthropic donor to get an education in order to break out of the cycle of poverty that affects so many Africans.
He made the most of his opportunity and studied community development at University and after graduation he set up his own development agency offering others the development opportunities that he felt so fortunate to have been given himself.
As a passionate advocate of sustainability Richard always aims to get communities to help themselves rather than become dependent on handouts.
Strategic Intent
'Development without empowerment incubates Ignorance and Uncertainty’! Imbumba Projects intends to invest in local individuals with the potential to become future leaders through a number of mind-stimulating and social entrepreneurship oriented programmes. Working in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders we explore, implement, execute and regularly evaluate cutting edge development methods required in societies to help them break the cycle of poverty.
